How to use this site

  1. Pick a state below.
  2. Pick a procedure — an office visit, an MRI, a knee replacement.
  3. Read the map. Every hospital is a circle, shaded by its price. Click one for its cash price, its list price and what each insurer pays it; switch the map between the typical commercial price, the cash price, the list price or a single insurer.

These are the hospital's published prices, not your bill.
